* An internet is a private network that it uses internet protocol and Technology. It is mainly used to share information among the workers of an organization.
* An extra net is a semi private network which uses internet technology in its working. It is essentially the internet. Citizen extension of Intranet organization such as vendor and business partner to attain access relevant information.

There are basically three types of computer networks :
LAN(LOCAL AREA NETWORK)
This networking works when the connected computers are run with in a small area like a room, an office building or a campus. The range of LAN can be up to 10 km. A LAN consists of the following components:
* Two or more computers
* Software to control the operation of computers
* Peripheral devices such as printers,scanners, etc.,
* Cables to connect the computers.
